Traffic Exchanges -
A traffic exchange is where you advertise your website. Once you have signed up you surf – view other peoples websites to earn credits. Each credit then allows your websites to be seen by other people surfing in the exchange. This increases the number of visitors to all the sites involved.
Each exchange is slightly different in the number of credits you get for each websites to be shown and the amount of time you need to view a website. Each exchange has a counter to tell you when you can click on the next site to get more credits.
As the viewers are all website owners or affiliates, it is possible that some might find certain member sites interesting and thus make note of them on their own sites, sending more traffic their way. Most traffic programs also impose a time limit when members are browsing, ranging from 6 seconds to 20 seconds. Some incorporate adhoc checks to ensure user interaction.
They are Free to join. You can increase your credits by buying them, referring additional people to the exchange or by upgrading. Personally I have only upgraded in one but may do another one to save time clicking. I would suggest trying before upgrading anyway.
TIP – With multi tab browsing now possible open up a number of your exchange sessions and surf them together so you have say 4 pages counting down at a time so you can basically just click through all 4 without wasting time. Note you may see bonus credits or have to answer a question to continue to at least glance at the page shown!
